A Youth Worker for St Cuthbert’s
Where We are now
25% of our worshiping community are under 18 years old, and whilst we have various things for children, we do not offer young people a great deal. We are exploring the possibility of employing a youth-worker, in partnership with Blank Canvas, a Christian Youth Work Charity based in Redcar. The proposal is to employ someone half time for one year as a pilot. The PCC is excited by this possibility but our finance is not secure enough to take the next step. Taking all cost into consideration we will need approximately £20,000.
Could you get involved…?
In order to finance this we are applying for grant funding but we also want to ask you if you would be willing to give to a dedicated fund, either as a one off or as a monthly gift? This would send a huge message to our young people that we value them. If you would be willing to pledge a gift please let our treasurer Linda Prouldler know, including the amount you are pledging. Linda can be contacted via email here. Or you can give a one-off or regular amount online through SumUp by clicking the link below.
As we seek to see if we can raise enough funds for a half time youth-worker for a year, some have asked for guidance as to what the 'right' amount to pledge is. There is no 'right' amount, other than what you think God is asking of you, as it will depend on income, what you already give to the church etc.
But maybe you could think in terms of 'buying a drink'. A large Greggs tea per week would equal £6 per month. A medium Costa hot chocolate per week would be £15 over the month.
If 10 people give £6 per month
7 give £15 pm
5 give £25 pm
4 give £50 pm
2 give £100 pm
1 gives £250 pm
We'd raise £10,780 as a congregation.
