Our Church Vision

Our vision is to be a church community that is growing in Christlikeness, so that we can increase in our love for God, for each other and for our wider community.

Why a Vision statement? Simply put, churches which have a vision statement have a shared and agreed direction of travel. These churches tend to see better working together (because everyone knows where we are heading), a greater sense of purpose and growth.

The church, and society more widely, has seen a great deal of change in recent years, so it seemed appropriate to refresh the vision for the church.

There are things that all Christians and churches are always called to do: such as tell others the good news of Jesus, care for the poor, pray, seek to become more like Jesus. However, quite how that looks varies in each place at each time.

How did we get here? This has been a long piece of work with the PCC spending a lot of time on it, informed in large part by the whole church vision day we held in February 2024. So this is something that the whole church has been involved in developing, and hopefully, now owning.

What’s the difference between vision and mission statements? Vision tells us the direction of travel; the mission tells us what we are doing to get there.

The vision statement is above. This informs a 4 part mission statement:

We will do that through:
- Worship and prayer being central to all we do.
- Building a supportive church family
- Embracing all with Christ’s love
- Reaching out and serving our community

What about values? Vision and mission tells us where we are going, but values informs the culture (i.e. how we get there/what kind of church we are). Alongside growing in the fruit of the Holy Spirit, we want the following values to have particular importance in guiding our culture.

Open-hearted
Humble
Faithful
Grateful
Hope-filled

This Vision and Values statement was adopted at the 2025 APCM. Find out more by picking up a leaflet when you are next in church or the Parish Centre.
